Cookie Policy
How this website uses cookies, local storage, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Google AdSense Auto advertising cookies, and the controls you have to clear stored data.
Last updated: June 15, 2026
This cookie policy explains how favoritepokemon.net ("we", "our") uses cookies, local storage, and related browser technologies. It should be read together with our privacy policy. We use the phrase "cookie policy" here to cover both traditional HTTP cookies and comparable on-device storage used by our tools.
What are cookies and local storage?
Definitions
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Local storage and session storage are browser mechanisms that persist data on your device without necessarily using cookie files. Service workers may cache assets for offline or faster repeat visits. These technologies help the site remember preferences, persist your saved species lists, and measure traffic.
Strictly necessary storage
Some storage is required for core functionality. Without it, features may not work as intended.
Saved lists and teams
Names and ordering of species you store locally or in the roster builder.
Recent views
A short list of profiles you opened recently for quicker navigation.
Session identifier
An anonymous ID that may be stored to sync leaderboard contributions without an account.
Service worker cache
Static assets cached by our PWA configuration when enabled in production builds. These items are stored locally in your browser unless you clear site data. They are not used to build advertising profiles on our behalf.
Analytics cookies and similar technologies
Why we use analytics
We use analytics to understand aggregate traffic and improve tools. This section describes third-party services that may set cookies or use similar identifiers.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics may load when you visit the site. Google may set cookies such as _ga and _gid to distinguish sessions, measure page views, and estimate coarse geography from IP. See Google's cookie documentation.
Microsoft Clarity
When enabled, Microsoft Clarity loads on the site to capture anonymized session replays, click heatmaps, and scroll behavior. Clarity may set first-party cookies such as _clck and _clsk to distinguish sessions. See Microsoft's Clarity cookie list.
Advertising cookies and Google AdSense
Why advertising cookies are used
Google AdSense Auto ads and its advertising partners may set cookies or use similar identifiers when the site-wide AdSense script loads on favoritepokemon.net. Google chooses ad placement and formats automatically; we do not insert manual ad-unit markup in templates. These technologies help deliver ads, cap how often you see the same creative, measure ad performance, and — where permitted — show more relevant promotions based on prior visits to this site and others. We do not use your locally saved species lists or team data to target ads.
Examples of Google advertising cookies
Google may set or read cookies such as __gads, __gpi, IDE (DoubleClick), and related identifiers on participating domains. Exact names and lifetimes can change when Google updates its ad products. Refer to Google's cookie documentation and Google's advertising technology policy for current details.
When ads and analytics load
Google AdSense Auto ads, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity (when configured) load in production when you open pages on this site. We do not use a cookie consent banner to delay those scripts. See the Advertising and Google AdSense section of our privacy policy for what data partners may receive and how to opt out of interest-based ads industry-wide.
Managing advertising cookies
You can clear AdSense-related cookies by deleting site data for favoritepokemon.net in your browser or by using Google Ads Settings. US and EU industry opt-out pages — DAA and EDAA Your Online Choices — limit interest-based advertising on participating networks. Questions about ads on this site can be sent through our contact page.
Third-party data requests
CDN and API providers
When the site loads Pokémon sprites or API responses from PokeAPI or content delivery networks, those providers may log requests according to their own policies. We do not control cookies they might set on their domains.
How long data stays on your device
Retention periods
Local storage remains until you delete it. Session cookies from analytics and advertising vendors may expire after a browser session or after vendor-defined periods (often up to 24 months for persistent analytics cookies, and varying durations for Google AdSense advertising cookies such as __gads unless you clear them sooner). Service worker caches update when we deploy new versions; you can unregister workers through browser dev tools if needed.
Managing and deleting storage
Browser controls
You can control cookies and site data through your browser settings. Common options include blocking third-party cookies, clearing data for favoritepokemon.net only, or using private browsing modes. Blocking all storage may disable saved lists, teams, and leaderboard sync.
Third-party opt-out tools
To opt out of Google Analytics across sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. To limit personalized Google ads, visit Google Ads Settings. You can also use browser extensions that filter analytics or ad scripts. Privacy rights and vendor policies are summarized in our privacy policy.
Do Not Track
DNT signals
Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. There is no universal industry standard for responding to DNT. We currently do not alter analytics behavior solely based on DNT headers, but you may use the controls above to limit tracking.
Updates to this cookie policy
When we revise this page
We may update this cookie policy when we add analytics or advertising vendors, change storage keys, or adjust PWA caching. Check the "Last updated" date on this page for the latest version.
